Statue of ZUIKEN-KAWAMURA
I was walking by the sea and sometimes I saw the sea. And I discovered a small park. There was a statue made of bronze in the park. The motif of the statue is ZUIKEN-KAWAMURA who is a great man from the beginning period of EDO era born in here. He was born in a poor farmer family. He worked for civil engineering work managed by the shogunate nation and he demonstrated his capability, so he accumulated wealth and succeeded at many projects. The projects were about some timber industries, some shipping industries, some aqueduct technologies for agriculture and so on. He developed some shipping routes for the transportation between local and the capital EDO regarding shipping industry. He used a lot of mathematics and improved of the aqueduct technology for agriculture. Just now I think he (the statue) is directing the worker with instructions on a scroll. Isn’t he great? I think all people who live in this area (MINAMI-ISE Town) are proud of him very much.
