TOBA-RYU Dinosaur
I started from the tourist spot MIKIMOTO Pearl Island, then I continued to walk in the direction of the other famous tourist spot SHIMA Spanish Village. The road was made along the seaside. There was a bus route and I hoped to end up at the further bus stop I could get before dark. It was already past over 5 o’clock in the evening. So I walked a little faster as I was concerned about being late for the last bus. Then, I found a big guide board on the left side of the road. According to the guide board, many dinosaur fossils from 100 million years ago were found along the seaside near here. And it is said that the dinosaur’s name is “TOBA-RYU”. There are replicas of some of the bones near the guide board, and the estimated length of it’s body is over 16 meters. It must have been so big! The bones were buried between stratums a long time ago and were exposed to erosion by seawater. They were only found recently. Even if that is so, I feel the passage of time is very mysterious.
